  Sunday practices will focus on roping

August Trail Runners Wagon Train
July 15-July 19th.  Fee:  $175 + $10 if not ATR member.  This includes 3 catered meals a day of incredible food, weed free  hay and grain for your animals, highline setup each evening for the animals.  Hot showers every night, evening entertainment, and drawings for door prizes each evening.  It all culminates in Augusta on Saturday with a parade into town and a Dance and BBQ that night at the Lazy B Bar.

PARELLI INFO:

The clinic with Dave was a huge success!  It was a small clinic  and the students came to prefer the small class size after all.   So next year we are planning on holding it to 8 riders exclusively. The rate will go up to cover the expenses that are normally dispersed amongst a larger group. So if you want to ride with Dave next year at the Principles to Purpose clinic, start planning now!

Gallatin Valley Backcountry Horsemen
Who Are We?

The Gallatin Valley Backcountry Horsemen have a strong relationship with the Forest service and work together to protect our backcountry trails and the privilege of riding on those trails.  We are proud of our efforts to preserve and protect our precious backcountry resources through everthing from trail maintenance to legislative work.  We strive to maintain our high standards fpr responsible use of these lands and educating other users.  We hope by our actions to preserve the opportunities for wilderness travel by horse and pack stock.
Please join us today.  You will meet some great people, work a few hards days and have satisfaction of knowing you helped to preserve a prat of the wonders of the Backcountry!

To join this organization, please come to a general meeting on the third Thursday of any month at 7:00 pm at the Alliance Church in Belgrade.

Summer Camp Series
These camps will run Mon-Friday 8am-4pm.  They are for adults and kids of like riding skills.  Max of 6 riders per camp.
Intro Camp:  June 16-20
Practical Experience on and around horses:  2+ hourse daily group lessons, Classroom work, Barn area, Basic horsemanship skills, and advanced safety.  Lunch Provided.
* catching, haltering, leading and tying safety, brushing, proper tack, saddling, bridling and ground skills. 
*English/Western lessons:  mounting, basic horsemanship position for rider, walk, trot, canter skills and dismounting.
*Practical work:  classroom time, feeding and watering, learning about owning and caring for your horse.
Get Started Camp:  July 7-11
Brush up on Intro Skills.  Leading into more advanced ground skills, English/Western riding:  Introducing to patterns, ground poles, trail obstacles.  Advancing walk, trot, canter skills.  Expand on classroom and basic learning.
Advancing Horsemanship Camp:  July 28-Aug 1
Brush up on Get Started Skills.  Specialize control and balance for horse and rider, learning leg yields and other lateral movements, more advanced pattern and obstacle work.
